New Zealand Show Jumping Teams Tour

Equestrian Australia has the opportunity to assign a Senior and Young Rider Team to a Show Jumping tour throughout New Zealand which commences in February through to March of 2015. Opportunities for riders to attend shows across the Tasman, gives both the horse and rider a taste of the challenges involved in travelling and competing abroad. The Horse of the Year Show (HOYs) is recognised as a world class event and exposing our combinations to high quality atmospheric shows that promotes further development within an international landscape. Australia’s relationship with New Zealand is always a tough competitive environment inside the sporting arena however we always enjoy a warm and friendly life lasting experience outside of it.

The invitation is for 4 riders to compete in the Senior Team and 4 riders in the Young Rider Team at the following events:

  1. AON Premier SJ Show, Woodhill Sands, Auckland   (20th-22nd February)   For show schedule click HERE

  1. Bayleys Tauranga SJ Championships, Tauranga     (26th Feb-1st March)   For show schedule click HERE
  1. Taranaki Equestrian SJ Show, Taranaki   (6th-8th March)      For show schedule click HERE

Once again a formidable prize pool is on offer with $52,500 for coming first in the JB Olympic Cup and McMillan Equine Feeds Silver Fern Stakes at the HOTY. The supporting shows also offer good money: Taranaki’a two top prizes $1500, Tauranga’s two top prizes $4000 and Wood Hill Sand’s two top prizes total $1400

The event being held at Hastings for the Horse of the Year Show is offering selected Australian riders a 'Package Deal' which includes airfare, transport, stabling, accommodation and ground fees. Riders will need to cover the costs to attend the other 3 events as these costs are not included in the package.

Information on the package deal for New Zealand Jumping Tour is available HERE (please note prices are in NZL Dollars).  EA has estimated that the additional costs per horse to attend the other 3 events would come to approximately $1,500 NZL Dollars, covering entries, levy’s and stabling.

EA would like to invite horse and rider combinations to indicate their interest to compete at these competitions in New Zealand. Riders are encouraged to compete in the Horse of the Year or all 4 events.

This is a self-funded tour, therefore the riders will be responsible for:

  • Arrangement and expenses of travel (flights) to and from New Zealand
  • Arrangement and expenses of horse travel throughout New Zealand
  • Accommodation and personal expenses
  • Insurance (EA National Office can assist with arranging this insurance)

Please complete the form below and send to the National Office on if you would like to be considered for the Show Jumping competitions in New Zealand.
